JUNTA SHHHhhh! Silent Reading Party on the Rooftop
August 14, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pmfree
Bring a book to Wallingford and quietly read on the rooftop – discussion in a separate area is possible. Bring something you like to drink and a snack to share.
ORIGIN OF JUNTA
Where did JUNTA come from? In 1727, Benjamin Franklin, created the Junto, a group of “like-minded artisans and tradesmen who hoped to improve themselves while they improved their community.” The Junto was a discussion group for issues of the day; it subsequently gave rise to many organizations in Philadelphia.
In Fall 2013 a group of Antioch University Seattle students began a grant writing course as they began to envision professional projects, programs, and niches toward social justice. This group has since evolved into a larger mutual improvement support group.
Fall 2014 marked the first JUNTA retreat on Orcas Island where students shared experience, challenged understanding and developed awareness of the group’s passions, aims, investments, and goals. Students of AUS Seattle are recruited through courses with Sara Beth Lohre and through peer relationships with JUNTA members. All AUS students and alumni are welcome to join us!
Find JUNTA on Facebook: JUNTA Closed Group or email firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to our google group for updates on events and opportunities to collaborate with and enjoy AUS community…for all students and alumni.
