Where to Find Campus Closure Information
There are multiple ways to find out if AUS is open or closed. Please check Twitter, Facebook, the Public Schools Emergency Communication website, or call the AUS emergency message phone line at 206-268-4555. Each will be updated and kept current to the best of our abilities.
General Rule About Closing the Campus
AUS follows the decision of the Seattle Public Schools. When Seattle Public Schools are closed, AUS is closed. If the Seattle Public Schools are starting two hours late, AUS is starting two hours late. Closures affecting weekend classes are determined by AUS.
Personal Safety
Always consider your personal safety. If campus is open but you think the conditions are too dangerous do not come to campus. Be smart, be safe, and let someone (your supervisor or instructor) know where you are. Never take unnecessary risks getting to campus.
Closing the Campus
The Provost determines whether the university will close.
If the campus is closed, employees are not expected to come to work. If the campus is open and an individual staff or faculty member cannot get to work, that person is responsible for notifying his or her supervisor and students.
