Program Overview

Antioch University’s MS in Allied Health in Exercise and Health Science equips you with the expertise to help people embrace healthy living, while preparing you to transform healthcare through a lens of social justice

This program is most applicable for students with a bachelor’s degree in Allied Health, Exercise Science and Health Promotion, Kinesiology, or other related fields. This concentration is intended to prepare professionals with increased knowledge about the fitness and nutrition needs of individuals across the lifespan, in accordance with the goals of Healthy People 2030. This degree will also enable Exercise and Health Science professionals to work toward further certification(s) within these fields. Examples include (but are not limited to) CSCS, CHES, or ACSM-EP.

2 years

All students earning their Master of Science in Allied Health in Exercise and Health Science must complete the “core” requirements (15 Total Hours):

  • Allied Healthcare Administration
  • Evidence-Based Practice
  • Leadership & Advocacy in Policy and Healthcare
  • Research Design
  • Program Planning & Evaluation

In addition to the core requirements, students will complete:

Advanced Practice Content Courses – (6 hours)

  • Advanced Strength & Conditioning
  • Foundations and Theory of Health Behavior

One Elective Course (3 hours) – choose from courses like Applied Performance Nutrition, Wellness for Special Populations, and others.

Completion of your degree is fulfilled by choosing to either complete a research thesis or take on a hands-on practicum project relevant to exercise and health science.

  • Advanced Clinical Practicum (6 hours), OR
  • Thesis (6 hours)

    • Personal Essay –
      Describe your personal goals and how your experience relates to your pursuit of this degree
    • Two letters of recommendation (required), from people who are in a position to evaluate your professional (e.g., supervisor, colleague) or academic (e.g., faculty) work. The person making the recommendation cannot be related to you.
    • Professional resume
  2. Submit official transcripts from all colleges or universities where you earned a degree or certificate. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is required. Official GRE scores can be submitted if the undergraduate GPA is below 3.0. You must have earned a four-year degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

  3. There are additional requirements for International applicants and applicants without a Bachelor’s degree.
  4. Note: Applicants may be invited to a personal interview at the discretion of the Program Director, conducted via Zoom.
