Heather joined the AUS community in 2019 as Core Faculty of Literacy Education and Chair of the MAT program. She teaches courses in language and literacies to preservice teachers in the MAT and ARTC programs. As a former teacher and literacy coach, Heather is passionate about helping preservice and early-career teachers develop approaches that center social justice and dismantle white supremacy. Heather holds a master’s degree in Crosscultural Language and Academic Development from Santa Clara University and a PhD in Literacy Education from Stanford University.
