Laurel Tien’s PhD dissertation, in the Transformative Studies program at California Institute of Integral Studies, was focused on privileging emergence and relational learning as generative collective wisdom. Her teaching and research over the past fifteen years has focused on experiential, holistic, integral, and transformational approaches to education/wellness.

Laurel earned a Master of Arts in SelfDesign from the SelfDesign Graduate Institute, and a Master of Arts in Art Education and Critical Pedagogy from the University of British Columbia.
