Before coming to Antioch University in 1992, Bowen was a management development division chief with L.A. County Department of Health Services. Other teaching assignments include the School of Public Administration, University of Southern California; University of San Francisco; University of Redlands; and the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science. His teaching has focused primarily on organizational change, social work, communities in transition, and leadership. Bowen’s areas of academic interest range from contemporary challenges facing urban theology to culture change and the redefinitions of liberal thought. He teaches courses in diversity, social work, and human resource management at Antioch University Los Angeles.
