Upon graduating from Augsburg College with a major in French, David Norgard continued his studies at Yale Divinity School, where he earned his Master of Divinity degree. While at Yale, he founded the Yale Gay and Lesbian Cooperative, a cross-campus student advocacy group that still flourishes. Upon graduation, he received the Dean’s Citation for Community Service. The Divinity School honored him again in 1995, when he received a Distinguished Alumni Award. Norgard is also an Antioch alum, earning an MA in Organizational Management. He earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from Claremont School of Theology, from which he also received the President’s Award for Academic Excellence.

Prior to teaching at Antioch, Norgard provided executive leadership to several faith-based nonprofit organizations, guiding them through financial and programmatic turnarounds. From 2004 through 2019, he also operated a solo consulting practice, OD180 Consulting, focusing on strategic planning, development planning, and board governance.

He is a priest of the Episcopal Church. In 2012, in recognition of his development work there, he was inducted as a Canon of St. Paul’s Cathedral, San Diego.

He lives with his partner of many years in Palm Springs, California. The canine member of the family, Sadie, serves as David’s Teaching Assistant.
