Carolanne Watness serves as the Co-Director of Field Experience in the School of Education. Her background in classroom teaching, building and central office administration give her a unique perspective on public school education. She student taught in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1968 when the school district was still racially segregated. Her classroom career began in Portland, Oregon where she received a Master’s degree from Portland State University. Her family relocated to Seattle and she taught in the Monroe School District after receiving her Administrative Credential from the University of Washington.
Carolanne was Headmaster at Bishop School in Everett, Washington, principal at Twin Lakes Elementary in Federal Way and Olympic School in the Highline School District. She was also Director of Elementary Education in the Highline School District.
At Antioch University, Ms. Watness has worked with core faculty, teacher candidates and University Field Instructors to provide leadership in developing quality school connections and student teaching placements. She serves on the Professional Educators Advisory Board at the University and also represents Antioch at the Washington Association of Colleges of Teacher Education.
She lives in Belltown and in Bay Center, Washington with her husband, Eric, and their Great Dane, Josephine.
