Dax Bevly, PhD (he/him/él/lo), is a full-time core faculty member in the Low Residency Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Antioch University Seattle and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas (#71979). Bevly primarily teaches Diagnosis, Essential Counseling Skills, Group Counseling, and Multicultural Counseling, and serves as Faculty Co-Advisor for the Omega Mu Gamma chapter of Chi Sigma Iota. He earned both his master’s and doctoral degrees in Counseling and Counselor Education from the University of North Texas (UNT). Before joining Antioch, Bevly worked full-time in private practice, providing individual, family, group, play, and couples therapy to children, adolescents, and adults, while also serving as an adjunct faculty member at UNT. Earlier in his career, Bevly worked across several community mental health settings, specializing in services for children, adolescents, college students, older adults, and adults with disabilities. He also provided play therapy in multiple public schools. During his graduate training, he supported adults and families with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders at a psychiatric hospital, working across inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient levels of care. Bevly identifies as a White and Latino/Indigenous nonbinary transmasculine person and is actively involved in mutual aid organizations serving BIPOC, undocumented immigrant, and queer communities. Although he teaches remotely for Antioch’s Low Residency program based in Seattle, Dr. Bevly resides in his home state of Texas.
