As a counselor educator, my teaching philosophy is deeply rooted in using culturally responsive teaching methods that allow students to feel supported in a classroom setting. Recognizing the unique needs of adult learners while promoting active engagement and critical reflection through discussion, using decolonized approaches to classroom norms. Considering lived experiences, including culturally specific needs, to provide educational support. Respecting individual learning experiences by providing the tools needed for students to take ownership of the way they learn.
