Fred joined the CAT Faculty at AUS in Fall 2014. In his work as a drama therapist, he specializes in a playful approach known as Developmental Transformations (DvT), in which client and therapist improvise movements and roles together. His personal connection to Antioch’s social justice mission is his commitment to teaching his students how to help their clients free themselves from cycles of harmful behavior.
In his thesis for an MA from CIIS (1999) and dissertation for a PhD from UI&U (2010), he studied the use of DvT to prevent survivors of harm from enacting harm on others. Among his clients have been combat veterans with PTSD and a history of violence since their return from military service and children who were sexually abused and subsequently acted out the abuse on other children. He became a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) in 2006 and a counselor (LMHC) in 2014.
