Julie Young, PhD, ATC attended Mount Union College (now University), where she completed her Athletic Training degree. She went on to earn her master's degree in Exercise and Sport Science at the University of North Carolina while working as a graduate assistant athletic trainer with the women's soccer and track teams. 

After graduating, Dr. Young moved to Columbus with her husband and took a job as a secondary school athletic trainer at Nationwide Children's Hospital. She also worked as a physician extender in clinics and a rehabilitation specialist. Dr. Young was very involved in departmental research and educational programming and has supported and led efforts around female athlete triad, pediatric concussion, musculoskeletal injuries, exercise as a vital sign, and mental health. 

She went back to earn her PhD in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences from The Ohio State University with her dissertation focusing on physical activity and mental health in adolescents. Dr. Young coordinated a large, multi-center HRSA grant aimed at improving healthcare provider well-being before joining the MSAH program.
