Kaela Farrise is a researcher, speaker, mental health advocate, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University in African and African American Studies and in Urban Studies, as well as a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Antioch University. Over the past several years, she has worked in various clinical and research-oriented settings, including as a child and adolescent mental health fellow at Kaiser Permanente and as the Lab Manager in the Early Life Stress and Resilience Program at Stanford University School of Medicine.

She currently sees clients through her private telehealth practice. She is also the founder of Therapy While Black, an organization dedicated to reducing mental health stigma in the Black community. As a researcher and a clinician, her work focuses on trauma and its aftermath in families of color, culturally responsive adaptations of psychological interventions, and implementation of mental health treatment in community-based settings.
