Ligiah Villalobos, MFA

Ligiah Villalobos is a Writer, Producer, Consultant, Educator, and Lecturer. She wrote and executive produce the indie film Under the Same Moon, (La Misma Luna) which was acquired by Fox Searchlight and The Weinstein Company at the Sundance Film Festival. Villalobos has developed projects and written TV series for multiple American studios, networks, and streaming services, including ABC, NBC, F/X, Showtime, HBO Max, Netflix, and STARZ. She was a Cultural Consultant on the Academy Award-winning Pixar movie, COCO and she is the recipient of the Humanitas Prize for writing. Currently, Villalobos is a writer on the animated series Rosie’s Rules and she is Executive Producing 20 animated shorts for Dreamworks TV Animation. The animated feature film Koati, which she co-wrote and is an associate producer on, was released in theatres on October 15, 2021.

Courses Taught

In addition to teaching at multiple universities, including Cal State LA, USC and Colorado College, Villalobos lectures and does writing workshops around the world, including for the Sundance Film Institute, Film Independent, Taipei’s Film Commission, San Miguel de Allende’s Writers Conference, and NALIP.
