My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that my role is not to simply outline book chapters for my students but to make content personal, meaningful, and valuable in shaping personal and professional growth. As an educator, program director, and registered dietitian, I view teaching as a relational and collaborative process. Students and I learn from each other—I learn how they learn best and usually so much more. I approach the classroom as the content expert while recognizing there is always more to learn, and it may come from my students. Students learn best when instruction is clear, meaningful, and connected to real-world applications. I aim to expose my students to the marginalized communities, unforeseen health barriers, and outcomes they may have overlooked before my class. My goal is to create learning environments where students feel included, challenged, and confident to strengthen their voice and emerge as professionals ready to make real, necessary changes in healthcare.
