With over a decade of clinical experience as an athletic trainer, I have come to deeply appreciate the power of experiential learning. While I’ve always been drawn to the energy and connection of on-field clinical work, over the last few years my passion has evolved to focus on clinical education, specifically, how intentional mentorship and meaningful learning experiences can shape the experience that athletic training students get through their educational program.
I believe that students learn best through active engagement, reflection, and real-world application. My teaching philosophy is rooted in the idea that education should bridge the gap between theory and practice. I strive to create learning experiences that extend beyond the textbook, where students are encouraged to think critically, apply their knowledge, and reflect on their growth.
Equally important to me is fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel heard, challenged, and empowered to grow, both professionally and personally. I maintain an open-door policy and welcome open dialogue, questions, and feedback to each and every student. My goal is to serve not just as an educator, but as a mentor and advocate throughout each student’s journey.
Ultimately, my goal is to inspire students to become confident, compassionate healthcare providers who will make a meaningful and lasting impact in the communities they serve. I also encourage them to embrace lifelong learning and to continuously seek opportunities to improve themselves and the world around them, leaving it better than they found it.
