Shakima “Kima” Tozay, is a Navy Veteran, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Certified Diversity Professional. She has spent over a decade providing social services to the military and has held leadership roles on various boards, committees, and commissions. She is pursuing her doctorate in Social Work from the University of Alabama with expertise in trauma-informed leadership, advocacy, and policy concerning maternal health, equity, diversity, and inclusion. Kima is also a Women in Leadership Certificate recipient through Antioch University and a Kagen Leadership Fellow through the Washington State Health Care Authority and Washington System of Care, a program grounded in Adaptive Leadership for System Change. Her Master of Social Work is from the University of Washington, where she also earned a BA with a minor in Education. Moreover, she has written for various publications such as Govloop, The Society for Diversity, and New Social Worker Magazine. She enjoys writing, watching old classic movies, taking road trips, exploring new places, and nature walks. Kima lives with her spouse in Stanwood, WA. Connect with Kima on LinkedIn.
