Steph Cooke, PhD, LMFT (they/she) is a licensed marriage and family therapist and core faculty member in the Couple and Family Therapy program at Antioch University Seattle. Their clinical, teaching, and research work centers on intersectionality, Black queer motherhood, and abolition feminisms, with particular attention to how these frameworks inform mental health crisis response. As a therapist, Cooke primarily works with BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals, couples, and families, approaching therapy with a commitment to cultural humility, relational care, and social justice. At Antioch, Cooke is deeply invested in the development of future therapists, serving as both instructor and supervisor while actively pursuing their AAMFT Approved Supervisor designation. Beyond their academic and clinical practice, Cooke is active in community organizing and grassroots initiatives that seek to decolonize mental health and dismantle oppressive systems. Their engagement includes direct action, mutual aid, and healing and transformative justice practices. Cooke is EMDR trained and has pursued advanced training in The Gottman Method, Brainspotting, Narrative Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT).
