Types of Financial Aid

There are four main types of financial aid for college students:
- grants
- scholarships
- loans
- work-study funds
The information below provides an explanation of the financial aid available for Antioch University students. Undergraduate Students
Eligibility is based on your family income, as reported on the FAFSA, along with your cost of attendance and how many credits you take each semester.
Supplemental federal grant that is based on your family income as reported on the FAFSA and is subject to availability of funds each year
- Students with federal needs, as determined by the income on their FAFSA, may qualify for a part-time job on campus through the Federal Work-Study Program.
- Positions vary from five to twenty hours per week. Students can elect to receive a bi-weekly paycheck or to use the funds to pay down a balance on their student account. View open positions
- Antioch offers a variety of private scholarships. Please visit the scholarship section for the list of available scholarships and how to apply.
- after a student graduates withdraws or drops below half-time status.
Federal Direct Subsidized Loan:
- This is a federal need-based loan on which the federal government pays the interest while you are enrolled at least half-time. For the latest information on interest rates and origination fees for undergraduate student loans, please visit the Student Aid website.
Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan:
- This is a Federal loan where the student is responsible for interest that accrues while you are enrolled. For the latest information on interest rates and origination fees for undergraduate student loans, please visit the Student Aid website.
Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan:
- A Parent PLUS loan is a loan for parents in their name to benefit the student.
- To qualify, the parent borrower must apply online at Student Aid Website
- Repayment can be deferred until a student graduates, withdraws, or drops below half-time. Interest accrues from the first disbursement of the loan. For the latest information on interest rates and origination fees for Parent PLUS loans, please visit the Student Aid website.
These are private student loans in the student’s name, and interest rates, as well as terms and conditions, will vary based on the student's credit history, income, and type of loan applied for.

Aid Based on State and/or Degree and Major
Cal Grant: The State of California offers several grants to residents, primarily the Cal grant, a need-based grant to Undergraduates that also factors in your high school GPA or the GPA from your last college attended. The yearly application deadline for each Fall quarter is March 2, and the application requires a FAFSA for the upcoming year and a GPA verification form. Golden State Teacher Grant Program (GSTG) – funds of up to $20,000 to over 4,400 eligible students across California who are enrolled in a Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) approved teacher preparation program within a California institution of higher education on or after January 1, 2020.

The State of Washington offers several grants to residents, primarily the WA Grant. The only application required is your FAFSA sent to Antioch University (SE Campus). Grant Award amounts vary and are determined by the State of Washington
TEACH Grant: This program provides grants of up to $4,000 a year to students who are completing or plan to complete coursework needed to begin a career in teaching.
