Job Description and Any Special Skills:
This exciting position is especially well suited for a student in either the undergrad or one of the graduate programs who has an interest in literature and publishing. The student’s responsibilities include reading and contributing to evaluation of submissions of fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and genre X that come to us from all over the world; author correspondence; and tracking and posting the twice yearly issue of our BA in Creative Writing Program’s literary journal, Two Hawks Quarterly.com on our WordPress website.
Prior experience with WordPress (or a similar platform) and comfort with technology are required. Attention to detail and the ability to keep to deadlines are critical. Writing and copy editing skills are highly desirable.
Prior work/study editors chose to attend most meetings of Two Hawks Quarterly along with the student interns every Tuesday 4-7. Attendance at some but not all of these meetings is highly desirable. All the technical tasks can be performed virtually with flexibility in the scheduling of these tasks as long as deadlines are met. Work/study will interact closely and must be willing to have near-daily telephone and/or zoom contact with the faculty supervisor. Work/study will also have periodic telephone contact with our tech consultant in Connecticut. Work/study may be asked to help train students in using Submittable, and in posting to WordPress, so should be patient with those less technically proficient and a good teacher.
