Method to assess remote work: Supervisor will be in weekly communication with the students to monitor that the work is being completed. The supervisor will also be checking that the data is being collected and entered on a shared Google Sheet. Through the above communication and checking, the supervisor will be able to assess if the work hours on task are accurately represented (given the amount of time it should take to complete the work).
Job Description
- Assistants are needed to help with Caribbean bird and plant research and educational projects.
- The research assistants will work with AUNE faculty, and collaborators at other organizations.
- Some research will be conducting bird and vegetation surveys, and setting up Audio Recording Units (15 hours/wk).
- Students will help enter, organize, manage, and analyze the collected data and previously collected data using Excel, R, and ArcGIS (15 hours/wk).
Qualifications
- Interest in research that focuses on Caribbean birds and plants
- Excellent data management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Quantitative skills; ability to use Excel, and familiarity and experience with using R and ArcGIS would be an added benefit
- Federal work study funds
