Job Description
The AUNE Writing Center is seeking experienced and enthusiastic consultants to assist members of the Antioch University community with their writing needs. AUNE Writing Consultants provide one-on-one writing assistance to students across all disciplines, working with them on a range of writing projects, including research papers, essays, presentations, and more. Consultants help students develop their writing skills by offering feedback, guidance, and resources in support of their writing processes.The successful candidate for this position will have a strong writing background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for teaching and mentoring.
- Responsibilities; Conduct one-on-one consultations with members of the Antioch University community, providing assistance with but not limited to brainstorming, outlining, drafting, revising, and editing.
- Help students develop effective writing strategies and techniques, including time management, note-taking, research skills, and citation methods.
- Assist students in navigating writing assignments across various disciplines, including essays, research papers, lab reports, and theses.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records of client consultations and progress.
Collaborate with other consultants and staff to develop and deliver writing workshops and presentations to classes and campus organizations. - Stay current on writing and tutoring pedagogy and incorporate best practices into tutoring sessions.
- Participate in monthly staff meetings, ongoing tutor training, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
- Strong writing skills and ability to provide feedback on writing
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Prior experience in tutoring or teaching writing a plus
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, or on campus as needed
- Punctuality and reliability
- Ability to analyze, prioritize, and maintain confidentiality
- Must be currently enrolled in an Antioch graduate program with a Federal Work Study award
