Team Antioch Walks
The 2015 Team Antioch Walks raised $10,764.50 (and still counting) to support Aids Walk Los Angeles. That’s more than any previous team in AULA’s almost 25 years of participating in this very important event. Team Antioch Walks ranked 23rd among nearly 100 teams participating in the Walk. Team Captain Dr. Joy Turek also topped her personal best of $1,000.
“An inspiring 70 Antioch community members did the Aids Walk—a wonderful mixed group of faculty, alums, students, staff, and our families. Walker ranged in age from 2 to 70 years old,” said Turek. “It was blistery hot, but I think every one of us was delighted and determined.”
“I was hot and tired, but more than that, incredibly grateful and proud of AULA,” said student and Team Antioch Walks member Mary Martori. “I can’t wait for next year, but until then, I am swollen with pride for our little school.”
Since its inception 30 years ago, AIDS Walk Los Angeles has served as a model of grassroots fundraising and community activism for organizations across the United States, and was the first event of its kind in the world. AIDS Walk Los Angeles has drawn over a half-million participants who have collectively raised $80 million for AIDS research and care in support of those who are living with AIDS.
