Carol V. Davis is the author of Because I Cannot Leave This Body (Truman State Univ. Press, 2017), Between Storms (Truman State University Press, 2012). She won the 2007 T.S. Eliot Prize for Into the Arms of Pushkin: Poems of St. Petersburg. Her first book, It’s Time to Talk About… was published in a bilingual English/Russian edition in Russia in 1997. Her poetry has been published in Ploughshares, Mid-American Review, Prairie Schooner, and in anthologies, including The Bloomsbury Anthology of Contemporary Jewish American Poetry (2013). She was twice a Fulbright scholar in Russia, 2005 and 1996-97. A recipient of a 2015 Barbara Deming Memorial/Money for Women grant, in the winter of 2015, she taught in Ulan-Ude, Buryatia Republic. Siberia. Her artist residencies include Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Jentel, Ragdale, and two National Park Service residencies, including on the Navajo Reservation in Aug. 2015. She is the poetry editor of the Los Angeles newspaper, the Jewish Journal.
