- The characteristics of an innovative workplace culture.
- The relevance of innovation as a driving force across sectors.
- Innovation as a learned process from soliciting, evaluating new and overseeing the implementation of ideas.
- The decision-making process in terms of evaluating which innovations are worthy of further investment.

Romi Kadri is graduate of MIT with a BS in Engineering to include a year-long internship at Rolls Royce. He is a Board Member of the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship, has patented inventions, and has worked on developing innovations at Sonos, which reports developing over 50 patents. He is presently a Managing Partner at Capella Partners, whose firm focuses on advancing technologies to market with strategic investments from global family offices.
Kathy Odell is a serial entrepreneur with over 30 years of leadership experience. Recently appointed the CEO elect of Women’s Economic Ventures, she has had a long and distinguished career as a founder and CEO to include Managing Director, Annovium Products, Founding CEO Inogen, Inc., and Managing Director/Founder of Medical Concepts, Inc. Kathy was a director of Pacific Capital Bancorp, N.A. [NASDAQ: PCBC], a regional community bank with $6.5B in assets, where she served as Chair of the Compensation Committee and as a member of the Enterprise Risk and Governance committees. Ms. Odell has won numerous awards as an entrepreneur and executive leader.
Nicholas Teti has served the health care community in a variety of positions and companies for 40+ years. He spent 25 years at Dupont Pharmaceuticals and ended his stay there as CEO in 2001 on the sale of the Company to Bristol Myers Squibb. In 2001 he joined the Inamed Corporation, a medical device and Aesthetics company, as Chairman in CEO until 2006 with the sale of the Company to Allergan Medical. His subsequent CEO roles were with Isologen, Denmat, and Suneva Medical. In all of the above businesses, the keys to success were his firm belief in a value system that helped build a strong culture, hiring the best talent, and most of all and a strong desire for risk-taking and innovation.
Stuart Jenkins is the owner of White Hat Innovation, a consulting firm dedicated to innovating products and processes. With extensive experience in the footwear industry on a global scale and work on over 10 start-ups, Stuart Jenkin’s is also founder of BLUMAKA, which has created a process for creating the most sustainable foam on the planet. In 2012 he became Senior Vice President of Innovation and Product Development for DECKERS, a $1.5 billion footwear company, which owns the brands UGG, TEVA, HOKA and Sanuk. In 2016 Stuart became CEO of Shoes For Crews, a work/duty footwear brand overseeing a complete transformation (product, branding, marketing & sales) of one of the largest factory direct footwear brands in America in only 18 months. Jenkins is a frequent speaker at Innovation conferences in the US.
Lois Phillips, PhD was the founder and executive director of AUSB and has worked as a consultant across industries. She has provided professional development training in Organizational Communication and Team Development, facilitated 5-year strategic plans for a range of colleges and universities, delivered keynote speeches at professional conferences, and taught workshops on presentation skills and negotiation skills for UCSB Extension. With media experience that informs her executive communication coaching practice, Dr. Phillips has hosted two cable television programs about the changing roles of women and men, co-hosted DIALOGUES for KCLU/NPR, and written articles for Noozhawk and Pacific Coast Business Times.
