Alli Spotts-De Lazzer is a licensed therapist (LMFT, LPCC) and eating disorders specialist (CEDS-C, IEDS) with nearly 20 years of clinical experience. Her teaching focuses on translating complex mental health concepts into practical, attuned care. She has presented over 50 workshops at conferences, universities, and training facilities.

Alli is the lead author of My Child Has an Eating Disorder: An Essential Guide for Parents of Kids, Teens, and Adults (Bloomsbury Academic, 2026), where she originated the book’s concept, spearheaded its clinical direction, and guided its research integration. She is also the author of MeaningFULL: 23 Life-Changing Stories of Conquering Dieting, Weight, & Body Image Issues (Unsolicited Press, 2021). Her writing has appeared in peer-reviewed journals, trade publications, book chapters, Verywell Mind, and Medscape. She is a regular online columnist for Psychology Today.

Alli has contributed to public mental health awareness and professional development by creating and directing the national mental health initiative #ShakeIt for Self-Acceptance!, designing portions of the national CEDS curriculum, teaching as CEDS core faculty, supervising developing specialists, and co-chairing committees for AED and iaedp™.

Selected honors include serving as an invited expert reviewer for the APA’s practice guideline for eating disorders (2022 draft), receiving the iaedp™ 2017 Member of the Year Award, and having “#ShakeIt for Self-Acceptance! Day” declared by the Mayor of Los Angeles and the City Council.
