Stuart S. Light, MA, MEd, LMFT attended UCLA to earn his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and UCSB to earn a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. He also attended Antioch University Santa Barbara, earning a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology.
Mr. Light’s clinical and teaching experiences are extensive and diverse. He helped develop and implement programs at Path Point, Inc., providing counseling for clients with serious mental illnesses and co-occurring substance-related disorders. He worked as a clinical intern with the Health and Wellness Center at Santa Barbara City College, providing therapy for a diverse population of students through individual and couple’s counseling.
Mr. Light served at UCSB as an individual and group counselor in the Alcohol and Drug Program. He is currently a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice. He serves as an independent consultant on addictive behaviors at the Family Therapy Institute of Santa Barbara, offering treatment to individuals, couples, and families. He was formerly the Lead Clinician on the Santa Barbara County ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) Team working with severely mentally ill clients and their families.
Mr. Light has been a faculty member at Antioch University Santa Barbara in the Master’s in Clinical Psychology Program and the Bachelor’s in Psychology since 2007. He was the recipient of the 2011-12 Excellence in Teaching Award for his contributions to the BA Program. Currently, he’s a member of the Affiliate Faculty for the Master’s in Clinical Psychology Program, where he teaches and collaborates with the Program Chair and other members of the faculty and staff to improve instructor selection and training, develop curriculum development, and conduct student selection interviews. He also has created new courses and for the BA program. In addition, he serves on the AUSB Faculty Senate.
Mr. Light is also a member of the adjunct faculty at Santa Barbara City College in the Alcohol and Drug Certification Program.
