Office of The Registrar
Graduation (Degree Conferral)
Graduation is an administrative process rather than an event; it marks the official date a student's degree is formally conferred after all academic requirements are met. Antioch University processes degree conferrals multiple times per year, utilizing the final day of the academic term as the official graduation and degree conferral date.
Path to Completion
Graduation / Degree Conferral
The Office of the Registrar reviews prospective graduate records (Degree Audit) for completion based on submitted Graduation Applications. Ahead of this review, students are expected to audit their own academic record by reviewing their Credit History and Degree Audit Report (DAR) via the student portal. To qualify for degree conferral, all evaluations must be posted and all degree requirements completed by the last day of the term.
Degree processing begins on the conferral date each term and occurs for approximately two weeks after the conferral date as final evaluations are posted.
Students can find complete details about the Degree Conferral Process and conferral requirements on the Registrar Information Site.
Graduation Application (Intent to Graduate Form)
To be considered for conferral, all students must submit a Graduation Application (found via the student portal). This form alerts the conferral team and academic program of the student’s intent to graduate.
Based on their Anticipated Completion Date (ACD), students are prompted during their penultimate term to submit a Graduation Application for the term in which they expect to finish their final requirements. Failure to submit this application in a timely manner may result in delays to both degree conferral processing and the issuance of official student records.
Student Records
Diploma/Certificate
Antioch University diplomas display the student's degree and major or area of study; concentrations and specializations are not included on the diploma.
Diploma Printing & Digital Credentials
Diplomas are processed and printed monthly. Once printed, students will receive an email from our diploma vendor, Parchment, containing instructions on how to download and share a digital copy of their credential.
Mailing & Address Verification
Upon receiving the vendor notification, students will have an opportunity to review and update their diploma mailing address. Verification is highly recommended for students who have relocated since submitting their Graduation Application.
Estimated Delivery: Most students can expect to receive their physical credential 6–8 weeks after their degree conferral is processed.
International Delivery: Please allow additional transit time for international shipping.
Transcript
The transcript is the official record of all completed degree requirements. Official transcripts may be ordered online through the National Student Clearinghouse. For additional information, please visit the Office of Records Administration (Student Records).
Students ordering transcripts prior to their official conferral date must explicitly request that their order be held for degree conferral to ensure the completed degree is posted on the transcript.
Commencement
The University Registrar Team manages the official degree conferral process, which is administratively separate from commencement ceremonies.
Each campus hosts an annual commencement ceremony to celebrate the academic achievements of our graduates. Commencement is a celebratory event; it is not an official degree conferral date, and diplomas are not distributed at the ceremony.
Please visit the university Commencement page for event details. For further questions regarding commencement ceremonies, students should contact their program office or the Commencement Team directly.
