Karen Ely
Karen provides high-level, confidential administrative clerical support to the Office of General Counsel. She has ten years’ prior experience as a legal secretary. Karen assists in editing and formatting all university policies for approval and is responsible for posting new or revised policies to the university’s website.
Since joining Antioch University in 2002, Karen has served in various positions. She began as Assistant to the Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations for Antioch College and later supported the Vice Chancellor of Development for Antioch University. In 2006, she was appointed Senior Administrative Assistant in the Chancellor’s Office supporting both the Chancellor and the Executive Secretary of the Board. For a period of three years in addition to supporting the Office of the Chancellor she also supported the Vice Chancellor / CFO of Antioch University. In the fall of 2010 when the Office of General Counsel was formed, Karen began supporting both the Office of the Chancellor and the Executive Secretary of the Board as well as Office of General Counsel. Effective July 1, 2012 she began providing support just for the Office of General Counsel.
When not in the office Karen is a busy young grandmother who enjoys spending time with her three grandsons who live nearby and, in her spare time she is the “family historian.” She is in the process of conducting and compiling family interviews as part of a project to update six generations of her Irish family history.
