Through the study and daily application of ancient and current applied philosophical perspectives, this certificate will help you find and harness your innate wisdom to develop a more compassionate classroom. While studying, you’ll find guidance to deepen your own mindfulness practice, develop an understanding of the history of mindfulness-based educational approaches and develop your own applications. Focus on the context in which the core principles of mindfulness and compassion affect the classroom to discover new perspectives on both teaching and learning strategies.
This certificate is offered by AU New England.
Program Overview
Whether you work in a pre-school, a graduate school or anything in between, this year-long, fully online program is for educators interested in deepening their own practice and exploring and applying mindfulness-based approaches in their teaching or work context.
The Mindfulness for Educators Certificate Program trains educators in the core practices of mindfulness and compassion, as formal practices and as lived and embodied responses to life in the classroom and in the world. Antioch University New England has the only graduate program with a focus on mindfulness that is just for teachers.
Relevant and engaging coursework takes into account the lives of working educators. The cohort approach helps participants remain committed to daily meditation and informal mindfulness practices. The program combines online pedagogy with interactive teaching methodology. It includes small class sizes, individual attention from faculty, and real-time connection via telephone, on-line conferencing, and webinars.
