Jerry Saslow is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Los Angeles, specializing in the care and treatment of adolescents –as well as those affected by substance abuse. He spent six years on staff at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in the Division of Adolescent Medicine as a psychotherapist in the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Program. There, Jerry developed the curriculum for The BOYler ROOM, a 10-week psychoeducational and process group for adolescent boys that allows its young participants to challenge the many destructive male discourses that they are recruited into at an early age and to begin to replace them for more positive, preferred, and productive versions of masculinity. Jerry has facilitated this group experience with over 400 adolescent males. Additionally, he directed and produced “Get On This Grass,” a PSA music video starring youth aimed at encouraging other youth to engage in alternative activities to marijuana use. He has provided clinical services at the Los Angeles LGBT Center, where he also facilitated group treatment for male batterers in the Domestic Violence program. Additionally, he spent 10 years as a speaker and board member for GLIDE (Gays and Lesbians Initiating Dialogue for Equality), a speakers bureau in Los Angeles whose mission was to engage in public conversations about homophobia and its effects on both gay and non-gay individuals by going into LAUSD high schools as well as local universities, businesses, and places of worship.

Jerry continues to lecture and provide workshops on substance use and adolescent health issues at institutions throughout Los Angeles, including the USC Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, American Musical and Dramatic Academy, Public Counsel, and Milken Community Upper School. He currently works in private practice.
